Last month, I shared one of my "Messy Recipes" (a recipe book or card that was splattered with ingredients from being used over and over again) from my little blue book that was my journal during my catering days - it contained all of my favorite recipes that I made over and over for my clients. Well, this month, I was asked share another sort of "Messy Recipe" by the folks at LG.
They have recently launched their new generation of LG EasyClean™ Double Range Ovens that can be cleaned in minutes instead of hours... meaning less time cleaning and more time to spend doing, well, anythingelse! All you do is spray the oven interior with water, press the EasyClean button, then in just 20 minutes, wipe away any residual bits. I love that there are no chemicals or high heat needed - something I always consider. To learn more about LG EasyClean click here.
1 pound of butter (4 sticks)
2 pounds of chocolate chips
2 1/4 cups of sugar
1 1/4 cup of flour
6 eggs
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of sea salt
seeds from 1 vanilla bean
In a microwave safe bowl, place chocolate chips, then top with 4 sticks of butter. Microwave for 1-2 minutes, until butter melts and covers the chips. Stir to melt.

Combine the dry ingredients, then add it to the chocolate mixture in a kitchen aid, fitted with the paddle.
Add the eggs and stir until just combined. Bake in a large 13x18 baking sheet at 350 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes. I let these cool overnight in the refrigerator to help the cutting process. Then enjoy!

Now it’s your turn to tell me - what is YOUR favorite recipe that leaves your oven messy? Let me know in the comments for your chance to win your own LG EasyClean™ Double Oven Range!

The brownies look yummy! I love baking pies filled to the brim in my oven, but there is always a little bubbling. This does not make for a fun clean up! It would be nice to spray water, push a button, and be done in 20 minutes! Wouldn't that be great to have in your whole house? It gets dirty and you just spray your house down and close the door then 20 minutes later come to a clean home!

ReplyDeleteWow, what an amazing giveaway and amazing looking brownies! My favorite messy recipe is my family's lasange recipe. Sometimes I add one too many layers and a lot of deliciousness bubbles over the top. I usually put a cookie sheet underneath it, just in case. You are right though - the cleaning feature on this range sounds light years better than other ranges.
ReplyDeleteThese brownies look super yummy...how could you use that much butter and the recipe not turn out amazing ;) I think the messiest recipe I have is apple pie, it always bubbles over and gets the oven dirty.
ReplyDeleteThis recipe looks super yummy! How could you use that much butter and the recipe not turn out amazing ;) The messiest recipe I have is apple pie, always bubbles over and gets the oven dirty.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite messy recipe is BBQ pork ribs. I boil them on the stove top for about an hour, then baste them with BBQ sauce and put them under the broiler to create that wonderful glistening BBQ sauce bark. During the broiling process, there's a lot of spattering of BBQ sauce all over the interior of the oven. That LG Easy Clean oven sounds like a dream for cleaning up this kind of sticky mess.
ReplyDeleteI love making deep dish apple pie in my cast iron skillet, but it always bubbles over just a bit!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite messy recipe is a crumb-topped apple pie - the crumb topping gets everywhere and often the juices bubble over the crust, leaving a sticky mess in the oven!
ReplyDeleteI think the messiest thing I make in the oven is bacon. Grease manages to splatter everywhere!
ReplyDeleteMy eggplant parmesan. It's good....and messy. I always make sure to put a pan under it to avoid spills. Thanks for the great giveaway! http://thecuttingedgeofordinary.blogspot.com/2010/03/my-eggplant-parmesan.html
ReplyDeleteI realy like this double range oven, 20 minutes for self cleaning is amazing
ReplyDeleteMeral
How handy to have a clean oven at the push of a button and a little spray. My friend & I occasionally make these strawberry muffins that do have a tendency to over flow if you aren't careful about the amount of batter you put in. We are like Lucy & Ethel when we have the flour and batter all over us. A new oven would be fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll be trying these very soon! My favorite messy recipe is blueberry cobbler. My in laws have a blueberry orchard so our summers are filled with warm gooey blueberry cobbler and cool ice cream. We are getting ready to gut our kitchen and renovate and this oven/range would be perfect! Thanks for the opportunity to enter the drawing!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite recipe that leaves a mess in my oven would be a thin crust garlic butter and cheese flatbread pizza. There's a lot of garlic butter used instead of a pizza sauce and when it bakes the garlic butter drips out of the bottom of the thin crust. You bake the pizza directly on one rack and place a pan on the rack directly below it to catch the drippings, but you still end up with a bit of a mess, but one great pizza!
ReplyDeleteBlueberry Pie- so messy but yummy!
ReplyDeleteAllenway@aol.com
My favorite recipe is homemade pizzas with my girls. They always seem to add too much sauce and cheese. The smiles on their faces make the mess completely worth it!!
ReplyDeleteI need this oven! It seems that everything I make lately bubbles over and makes a mess of my oven.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite messy recipe in my own recipe for lasagna - so good, but it always overflows.
My favorite messy recipe is gourmet cheese potatoes. For some reason, they always bubble over. They are worth it, though.
ReplyDeleteLovely giveaway....my oven gets messy from chicken potpie boil overs and from grease splatters from bacon and olive oil roasted veggies.
ReplyDeleteThe brownies look fbulous!
My favorite messy recipe is Apple Pie. I insist on making a nice, 'high" pie, and as a result have a very sticky, messy oven to contend with after the baking is done. It would be nice to skip the hours of self-cleaning!
ReplyDeleteOH MY, OH MY!!! JENNY, YOUR BROWNIE RECIPE IS HEAVENLY. I CAN'T WAIT TO TRY THIS OUT! YUMMY!! :-) What a great giveaway! WOW! My Favorite messiest recipe is my Peach Cobbler. We love, love home-baked Peach Cobbler especially using the freshest ingredient - fresh peaches from the tree in our backyard but by golly, my poor oven; she's a hot mess after all that baking. Yes, I wish I had an oven that would do all that fantastic and easy cleaning especially on sticky mess of burned sweet, sugary droppings. Thank you for a great giveaway!

ReplyDeleteHi Jenny,
DeleteLast night while sending my comment message to your blog, I came across Google issue re: my password. After fixing the issue, I resubmitted since I did not see my comment. After sending it, I still did not see my message. I told myself to wait & check the following morning. Now I see that I have 2 of the same comments. I sincerely apologize. This is truly an honest mistake. I hardly send comments because somehow, it never gets through and when I do, I meet problems in sending even the simplest comments. I have now fixed my Google acct & updated my password. Thank you.
My favorite messy recipe is a free form berry pie that I bake on a flat baking stone. No matter how well I think I have the sides sealed up, I always have a stream if berry goodness flowing off the side!
ReplyDeleteMy stove is circa 1987!!! I desperately need a new one. My favorite messy recipe is Martha Stewart's deep dish Fall Fruit Crisp. I pile the fruit up so high that it spills over the pie dish every time, but each delicious bite is worth the mess. Thank you for hosting this great giveaway that I need SOOOO badly!!!
ReplyDeleteThose look heavenly. And like I'd need to run a few miles afterwards! One of my favorites is Dutch apple pie with a little cinnamon pear balsamic vinegar for some extra tang, but that always bubbles over. Oh so worth it, though!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! this would be amazing to win!!!! When I make everyone's favorite Rosemary sliced potatoes with butter, it gets pretty messy!!! But they are oh so delicious!!
ReplyDeleteDana
My favorite messiest recipe is my grandmother's lasagna! It tastes divine but the bubbling cheese and sauce leave quite a mess in the oven.

ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway - love LG products. Glad to see a double oven concept and super easy clean.
ReplyDeleteLeslie:
ReplyDeleteMy fruit pies often bubble over. This is a problem, because I often forget to put something under them.
leslieannstevenson@yahoo.com
Those look delicious! I'd have to go with making pizzas as my oven destroyer. Sauce and cheese always gets baked on somewhere! Never fails!
ReplyDeleteLove brownies but the "messy" recipe for me seems to be banana bread. It always runs over the sides of the pan! This would be perfect! The oven in my stove quit a few months back....
ReplyDeleteEvery time we make homemade Hawaiian BBQ pizza, it always makes a big mess.

ReplyDeleteThe brownies sound and look awesome. Maybe tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteMy messy recipe is something called hamburger and mushroom soup. My mother made it for us all through my childhood (40s and 50s and beyond) and I could still eat it weekly - and I do. I think my oven is almost that old and, of course, it a non-self-cleaning one! Yikes.
Homemade pizza always results in a messy oven.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I make pie it seems to bubble over and burn on the bottom of my oven.

ReplyDeleteSticky buns
ReplyDeleteIt never fails that my berry or peach cobblers always overflow and drip down the sides of the baking dish, making the worst sticky messes in my oven.

Apple pie is always messy for me!
ReplyDeleteThe brownies look great. My messy recipe is actually lamb chops - because making them under the broiler they splash grease sometimes, and smoke up the kitchen because the oven needs cleaning. I would love to win an oven that was so easy to clean.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted here https://twitter.com/SuzOH/status/338446510226305024
ReplyDeleteMy stove is circa ancient i would love to have the LG EasyClean Oven Range it is a beauy.I make baked pork chops in the oven they always make a hugh mess but are worth it!Another is cookies which are also messy too!
ReplyDeleteWith the kids helping to cook, it seems ALL my recipes leave the oven messy. But the exploding-baked-potato incident stands out in my mind, I must admit.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely lasagna. I can never stop myself from filling it to the brim and then it just bubbles out. Oh yum!
ReplyDeletepizza

ReplyDeleteBacon it splatters grease everywhere.
ReplyDeletecarder-shari@lycos.com
I tend to overfill my cake pans so I can level them to get a perfect two inch layer, but sometimes they run over into the oven.
ReplyDeleteI like to make Parmesan Artichoke Dip which requires baking. The cheeses always bubble over and make a mess of my oven. It would be wonderful to have the LG stove and clean up those messes in just 20 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted https://twitter.com/gbherons/status/340297282568216577
ReplyDeleteApple Pie always makes a huge mess in my oven. We just bought this house six months ago and I'm pretty sure the oven is older than my grandma! Would really like to win this!

ReplyDeleteEverytime i bake sweet potatoes they drip all over the bottom of the oven. Even if i wrap them completely in foil. I would love an oven that cleans itself quickly and without heating the whole house up.
ReplyDeleteHomemade sourdough bread! I always rises much more than I expect, even though I keep changing my expectations :) I guess the starter is getting more active through the years.
ReplyDeleteHomemade gluten-free sourdough bread! The starter keeps getting stronger so the loaf is always rising and overflowing over the edges of the pan.
ReplyDeleteWhen I make my pumpkin bread, even if I skimp on the ingredients, it always explodes or overflows in the oven! Stinky, stinky oven.
