Lunch at The Pond

Last year during our first summer in Concord, I wondered... where are all of the pools?

Surely on these hot summer days everyone flocks to a pool, right?  I searched online, looked all around town... I couldn't find a public pool anywhere.

Then a friend mentions that they were finally accepted into a pond this year after a couple of years on the wait-list.

A pond?  A private pond?

It was so lovely.  I think this is something that all country towns should have - it was so peaceful and beautiful.

  1. So much more charming than a pool. How great!

  2. That is just too funny!! Never would have thought you had to be accepted into a pond...oh my...a far cry from life in the south here. Very charming, but I would still love a pool. So where are the pools??

    1. The Thoreau Club offers a private pool and workout area. There are very few country club-like areas around here that offer the full club atmosphere.

  3. I've never heard of such a thing! We don't have any public pools{nor ponds} around us here in Connecticut so we joined the Beach Club. It's nice, clean and not far from our home.

    Happy summer!

Jenny - Is this Walden Pond or the one in Lincoln? I remember going to the one in Lincoln when I was a kid but I can't remember the name of it. Lincoln also had a pool at the elementary school.

  5. Reminds me of the summers in Bellevue WA at Clyde Beach...

  7. Simple summer pleasures.
I so took for granted my early years living on the shores of Lake Michigan. Your pond looks like a lovely family-friendly alternative.
    Enjoy!

  8. hi jenny ~ popping in to say we had your white cheddar biscuits with dinner and they were a big {HUGE} hit with my boys. i gobbled down a couple too before they were all gone! I love your pond! when we go to the cape by boys prefer the ponds over the beach. not me, but i think they like the calm waters and the absence of salt. it must be j a massachusetts thing! so fun!
